Types of Cameras

Bullet Cameras

Bullet Cameras

Bullet Cameras

Bullet Cameras are cylinder-shaped and are mounted on a wall. Bullet cameras are best for outdoor areas due to their weatherproof nature, long-range view, and visible deterrence.

King Comm. Cabling recommends bullet cameras for perimeter security, parking lots, storefronts, and driveways.

Dome Cameras

Bullet Cameras

Dome cameras were designed to blend into their environment. Unlike bullet cameras, dome cameras are made to be discreet and not a visible deterrent. They are mostly used indoors, but there are waterproof models for outdoor use. The benefit of a dome camera is the dome! The dome-shaped camera allows for a wider viewing angle and a replaceable dome protective case in cases of vandalism.

Dome cameras should be used where aesthetics matter such as inside retail stores, offices, and restaurants.

Turret Camera

Bullet Cameras

Turret Camera

Turret cameras are similar to dome cameras but do not have a protective dome. The advantage is that there is less risk of image distortion, fogging, or glare caused by the dome. The disadvantage would be that turret cameras have a ball and socket design, making it easier for third parties to tamper with the direction of the camera.

Turret cameras are great in low-light environments and are most widely used in homes, warehouses, and alleys due to their infrared night vision.
